Tennis – Wimbledon Men’s final: 15th July, 14.00

Despite Andy Murray’s announcement prior to the tournament that he would not be competing, Sunday’s final did not disappoint. Novak Djokovic ended a two-year trophy drought in claiming the fourth Wimbledon title of his career. The Serb beat South African Kevin Anderson in straight sets to bring the title home and looked to be back to his best. However, it will be interesting to see how many viewers tuned in to watch the men’s final given its scheduling conflict with the following event.

Football – World Cup final: Sunday 15th July, 16.00

Despite calls to change the time of the Wimbledon men’s final, organisers have been persistent and have said the final will remain at the time it always has been, meaning it clashed with easily the biggest match on the footballing calendar. France faced Croatia on the biggest stage of all on Sunday afternoon and the match certainly didn’t disappoint. France took home football’s greatest trophy after a scintillating final – the game finished France 4-2 Croatia.

Formula 1 – Belgian Grand Prix: 26th August, 14.10

Although the season finale in Abu Dhabi is set to be the biggest race on the calendar, the Belgian Grand Prix is an event where drivers’ futures and possibly the championship itself will be defined. It is a race which is often unpredictable and has served up some brilliant races over the years. Drivers will be out to impress their team’s bosses, in the hope of ensuring that they will remain on the driver line up for 2019.

Golf – Ryder Cup: 28th – 30th September

The 42nd Ryder Cup will be held in France from 28–30 September 2018 at the Albatros Course of Le Golf National. Rugby Union – England vs New Zealand: 10th November, 15.00

Incredibly, this will be England’s first match against the All Blacks in four years. England’s team has evolved massively over this period, with Eddie Jones making big changes to the squad. England went 18 matches unbeaten, highlighting the huge advances made by the coach and team since their dismal 2015 World Cup. England’s match against New Zealand is set to be massive, not only because of the gap between their last match against rugby’s greats, but it will also serve as a reflection of how far England have come over the last few years.
