Why 2016 is the Year for 4K Ultra HD TV

Ultra HD 4K TVs have been on the market for quite a while now, so it might come as a shock to some people to learn that the incredible picture that is becoming a staple in homes up and down the country is set to become even better in the New Year.

It is expected that 4K and Ultra HD is going to feature quite heavily in 2016’s Consumer Technology Association’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) event in January. But why? How much further can the 4K technology be pushed? Is there much more that we can get out of it?

Join us as we look at what we could be looking forward to, and why 2016 is expected to be the year of 4K TV!

More to Offer

The 4K generation of TVs have now firmly rooted themselves in the market, and so many people have invested their money in them. Manufacturers have noticed how popular these ultra HD  models have become, and it doesn’t look like the demand for them is going to dwindle any time soon.

Technology is always advancing and manufacturers are always going to have something more to give. Whether it be a new platform upgrade for their customers or brand new models, we’re expecting to be wowed during the CES 2016 event.

Even media giants such as Netflix and Amazon Prime are expected to make further announcements about their 4K Ultra HD entertainment packages!

Refining What’s Already Good

Although a picture displayed in 4K looks immaculate, there’s always room for improvement. We’re already looking forward to seeing how a picture can be made even clearer on these powerful units, and with the announcement of high dynamic range (HDR) video contrast enhancement which is being released through Netflix and Amazon Prime. It’s hoped that the HDR technology will also be available for Ultra HD Blu Ray in the near future, too!

When comparing 4K HDR content with standard dynamic range 4K, users will definitely see a difference in the vibrancy of the colour, as well as a much clearer looking picture.

OLED 4K

LG seem to be the only company at the moment who are producing OLED 4K units, but it appears that this is all set to change next year.

OLED technology has been available since around 2013 and it allows manufacturers to create slimmer TV sets that are even thinner than plasma and LCD TVs while being incredibly eco-friendly.

We’re hoping that more manufacturers have taken up the challenge of creating these more environmentally friendly units, which will also help to bring the price down. It has yet to be revealed if any will be revealed at CES 2016, but we will have our eyes glued to the streams to find out!

CES 2016 is starting to look like an interesting event, and we can’t wait to see if 2016 is indeed going to be the year 4K dominates the TV world!
